Eric,
Actually I use a clothesline outside to dry my laundry the vast majority of the time. Your clothes will last longer.
I dry my clothes all the time in my electric clothes dryer. They last a pretty long time to me, like years.

The dryer, however, doesn't work that well with some of our comforters. For that, I dry it outside.
