Let's put it this way. If it does not, Dell will soon surpass CPQ's market cap, so something has got to give. If you look at today's performance, it seems as if the market has already said Dell is the winner, and the battle is over. I think Compaq's foray into the enterprise market will be recognized eventually. Believe me, I've been watching ever since Dell and CPQ decoupled in the fall, and I have to congratulate the Dellheads, their stock has far outperformed CPQ since October. In fact, let's make it hurt some more, Dell is getting fairly close to a DOUBLE since it's fall lows, while CPQ has not even traded at it's fall highs. It would be nice to hear something from CPQ management on this - I remember Mason stating the 80's should be close at hand back in the fall, have not heard anything since.... Maybe Steve has a new set of price projections? He has been pretty quiet lately. In fact, he seems to be posting more on the DELL thread than here - what might THAT tell us!!!!

John

PS - The other thing that really bugged me is that just about every 'other' tech perceived as a quality company has popped when announcing a split (like Dell and Lucent), except of course, for CPQ....
