>> is somehow not an indicator of low character is, in itself, a character flaw. It's not funny.
Yeah, it is funny. Maybe it isn't funny to you, or to me, but some people found it funny.
Now, is it funny for an old man to say it? No, it isn't. But younger men talk like that all the time. A 21 year old guy back in the day might have found that funny. I could cite a few horribly crude comments that still make me laugh when I think of them to this day.
Trump apparently felt comfortable with this group of men who were enamored of his sexual prowess, and made this comment as a joke. I will submit that most women would NOT find it funny, but a group of younger men might have. I've heard worse.
In my experience most women don't carry on this way. My wife would never make a dirty a joke under any circumstances. Or find one funny. But young men do. Why Trump might have said this at the age of late 50s, I can't say.
If you listened to the beginning of that tape there was "friendly" banter abut some woman, just Trump and one other guy talking bullshit. When the young model showed up he was bragging about his prowess in chasing some woman. It came across as half truth, half BS, as you would expect in such a conversation.
I acknowledge you are a very serious person. But not every individual you encounter in life is serious all the time. This was one of those moments, when Trump believed it was off-the-record, and the reporter did, too. Yet, someone at the network improperly released that information to the public.
That should have been grounds for a civil suit IMO. But we all know that the Fourth Estate is big and powerful and overwhelming (a strong argument against the amendment that created it, imo).
This a reason to not like the man personally. It is NOT a reason to believe that Kamala Harris is an adequate replacement for his skills, anymore than Joe Biden was. |
