To follow up on this, further reading has indicated CRWD really does provide services and products considered superior to those of S, PANW and others according to what I've read from IT folk who use CRWD's software. Current customers are under contract anyway, so it's will mostly hurt new sales for the time being. Evidence for CRWD's strong presence in the corporate cybersecurity market is the total number of PCs taken down worldwide (an estimated 8.5 million) and how many businesses were affected. CRWD's fiscal quarter ends in two days on the 31st, that is why they report so late every quarter (currently set for 9/4/2024). I expect the impact from the software update debacle to be relatively minimal this quarter given what we know, but next quarter could be hit far harder. It will be interesting to see what they say on the conference call about earnings moving forward. Another unknown is how long it will take the lawsuits to appear and if it will gain class action status. That said, Mr. Market knows as well as we do how long lawsuits take to drag out in the court system and tends to ignore them until settlements are reached.
