He is trying to apply laws written for a single campaign and trying to apply them to a joint campaign. Now I don't pretend to know the election laws, I'd rather claw my eyes out, but he wants us to believe that joint campaigns, which have existed ever since we decided having the second place finisher as VP was as bad of an idea as it seemed on the surface, have been illegal ever since. And that somehow, no one ever noticed it until now. The expectation that a VP is going to run a totally separate campaign from the presidency is totally whacked also. Maybe it is true. But without any supporting evidence at all, well...
