Tech Master & Jeff: Re: Compuware & MVS ...

How many MVS customers? Funny you should ask. CPWR has LOTS of MVS customers. Because of CPWR's popular toolset, I wouldn't be surprised that they have a presence in over 1/2 of the MVS sites around the world. And, I'll bet that over 95% of those customers have a serious Y2K problem.

In my opinion, the CPWR/ALYD combined activity is a good concept. The main problem with offsite conversion 'factories' is that there is a tremendous amount of time wasted collecting the correct source code and copy books. By sending CPWR staff (or one of their services partners) onsite to help the client package the source code, a major stumbling block will be alleviated.

Another company with an "automated conversion tool" mentioned they were going to begin doing something like this at a meeting I attended a few months ago. Haven't heard if they did that, or not.

Sounds to me like ALYD has a big problem. Where are they going to find enough qualified people to perform all the conversions that will come from CPWR clients?

Major bummer, dude ...

Too bad ALYD's tool isn't "fully automated". Heck, if it were, they wouldn't need any more people. Just throw the code into the input hopper, and presto! Instant Y2K compliancy. Well, maybe you'd need a few more people just to define a conversion rule or something.
