Agricultural products make up of 65% of Kenya's exports and 33% of Kenya's total economy: tea and coffee make up almost 25% of exports, fresh-cut flowers almost another 10% of exports, and all other agricultural exports another 30%.

Mined products, primarily titanium ore, make up 5% of Kenya's exports and just 2.5% of the total economy.

Virtually all of Kenya's exports are raw commodities with few processed, value-added products.
.

Kenya imports virtually all of the energy it uses and almost all of its manufactured products: machinery, transportation equipment and motor vehicle, petroleum, iron and steel, resins and plastics.
.

The largest US exports are energy 14% and food 8%, vehicles and computers / integrated circuits each add about 4% of total exports. The remaining 74% of US exports are a bewildering variety of manufactured goods and services, with 31% going to Canada and Mexico and 22% to Europe and the UK
