Why am I so sure data centers will come to Africa? It makes more economic sense to bring the loads to where there is energy than to bring the electricity to where the loads are.

Why?
Because of electricity losses and costs.
Training AI models don't need low latency. It needs cheap energy – wherever it can be found.
Such voracious technologies represent the natural trend of human progress. They will not go away.

Everybody who wants to secure a zero-emission baseload has already put their facility next to a hydro plant. But not here in Africa.

Because GPU-based computing is expensive, facilities need to run as efficient as possible. They need to work at all times ensuring all nodes are doing close to equal amounts of work. Treating all AI infrastructure globally as a single shared pool.
