Post-Industrial countries electricity generation plateaued long ago. Investors may find de-commissioned factories to deploy a data center but the electricity is not available.

Why?
The electricity utilities are already grappling with decarbonisation and climate risks now face growing demand from data centres supporting AI applications.

Data centers will be competing with re-shoring. Bringing critical industries back to the US by using Industrial Policy, i.e., imposing tariffs on imports.
A new aluminum smelter could be constructed in the US for the first time in over 40 years, thanks to the prospects of a potential $500-million Department of Energy grant and access to renewable energy.

Any owner of a renewable energy project here in Africa is in fat city
