Sept-Iles rush spurs mining stocks (MARKET ACTION) oct11 fin post.

Societe d'Exploration miniere Vior Inc.(VIO/M), up 8cents to $1.17,on volume of 1.1million shares.Azimut Exploration Inc.(AZM/M)
up 65 cents to $2.05,on volume of 488,250shares.Virginia Gold Mines
(VIA/M),down15cents to $3.65 on volume of 327,426shares. Altavista Mines Inc.(AIA/M),unchanged at 80cents on volume of 320,300shares.

Interest in the Sept-ILes,Que., nickel-copper rush ran up prices of many jr. mining stocks yesterday.Vior,Azimut, and Virginia rose after they said they would form a consortium--and had signed an agreement to option rights to future claims--with Kennecott Canada Inc., a subsiduary of Ausralian mining giant RTZ-CRA PLC.Azimut and Virginia both hit 52week highs--of $2.50 and $4.10 respectively-- during the days trading.

Responding to request from the MSE ,Altavista attributed the recent rise in its share price to general interest in the Sept-Iles area. The stock rose to a high of 92cents intraday before settling.
