Security and bug patches: macOS 14.6.1, 13.6.9, iOS/iPadOS 17.6.1, 16.7.10

Apple is distributing a new batch of “important” bug and security patches for macOS and mobile devices today without yet disclosing the vulnerabilities they address, but they look serious, based on past release patterns.

Apple’s macOS update descriptions are minimal, noting only an Advanced Data Protection fix, while Apple has apparently now abandoned support for macOS 12 Monterey with macOS 15 due later this year.
This update includes important bug fixes and addresses an issue that prevents enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection.

Apple had not documented changes in its iOS/iPadOS updates at the time of their release.
