NOVATO, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Sonic Solutions (SNIC) unveiled Sonic DVD Vobulator for Macintosh OS and Windows NT.

In a press release Thursday, the company said the application allows multimedia producers to create content for DVD-ROM and digital broadcast use.

The product, which converts video, audio and still image assets, includes software-based MPEG -2 variable bit rate video compression, Dolby Digital surround audio compression, and Video Object multiplexing and de-multiplexing.

Sonic Solutions said a Macintosh OS version is scheduled to ship in March at an introductory price of $4,999 on orders received before March 15, and $7,999 thereafter.

A Windows NT version will be available later this spring.

Sonic Solutions designs and makes tools for video, audio and multimedia professionals.
