My numerous English ancestors all came through colonial Virginia then moved south through NC and TN on their way to TX, so I defer to your expertise.

I think of KY as hilly and green, so mentally I can't really connect it to what I have seen in the vast expanse from TX to Wisconsin, which I drove the length of once.

I was also a big fan of "Justified" so there's another limiting bias.
