Hi all who still look. Not sure why but felt compelled to share some news here. I once posted here at 2:00 am in 2002 right before I left for the hospital for the birth on my son, so I have shared some personal stuff over the years.
I am now 67 and knew this was probably coming but I got official diagnoses of Alzheimer's yesterday. I am otherwise in pretty good health, but my short term memory has been bad for a couple years. I still am fine and do all I have done my entire life and think I will be pretty functional for 5-10 years. It runs in my family.
I bet I post a few more times on SiliconInvestor if it is still around before my mind goes. The Ragging Bull chat board where this I think this board originally started, (DrBob moved it to SI years ago), has no chat boards anymore. Honestly, sort of surprised SI is still here.
A couple of other notes. As far as I know we never knew what happened to DRBob or why he stopped posting. I suspected he may have passed away or he blew up his account and stopped trading. I have asked a couple times over the years, someone here knew him pretty well as I recall, but I do not think that person knew or maybe just never posted it as to DrBob's fate? If anyone knows the story of DrBob after he stopped posting on the board, love to hear and could you please post it.
I met Flack in person when he was in my area over 20 years ago. He was, like me, an occasional post over the years, but now it's been over 10 years since he posted. Maybe he finally lost interest, but he was older than me, and I have to wonder if he is still with us? Flack love to hear how you are doing if you see this.
And a special note to Shoreco another occasional poster here over last 20 years, who was kind enough to take me and my family for a boat ride over 22 years ago. I know he lost a child a number of years later, and my heart still goes out to him for his loss. Love to hear how you are doing Shoreco.
It was an interesting time in life when we were the first generation of internet investors and shorters. I was sad to see the board participation drop off a cliff when that era ended, but it happened to most chat boards of that ilk. I have traded full time for the past 25 years. I post some on Stocktwits these days.
I doubt many see this post, but I wish all here present and past a happy and wonderful life. And hope your trades and investments are prosperous. Thank you all for being a part of my life, especially during that past internet era. |
