I blew it on this one.

The lead character is a retired university professor harassing her police detective son by solving his cases for him. That is a tired plotline, but I hadn't watched an Irish TV series for a while, so I thought, why not?

As I sat through, and became increasingly bored by, the first episode, my sense of foreboding increased. Everything was just so darn nice, like a Hallmark movie. It lacked any edge at all, the kind of thing you need to animate a crime series trolling familiar tropes.

I did manage to finish the initial episode, but when I paid attention to the opening credits for episode two, the other shoe dropped. The central figure was played by Jane Seymour. Especially on TV, her fans demand that blandness, which is why I avoid her TV productions. I lasted about 10 more minutes before moving on.

If you like this sort of thing, have at it, but it's not for me.
