People are not leaving Aotearoa-Zimbabwe because the economy is having a problem. Well, sort of they are. The real reason they are leaving is because they are experiencing a bad economic situation which was caused by communism, racism, parasitism, corruption, invasion, crime, child abuse, sexism. 100 years ago New Zealand had been founded on Virtuous Victorian Values, give or take a bit, here and there = nowhere is perfect or ever has been but some are vastly less perfect than others.
When I was a child, newspapers were left in honesty boxes. People would put money in the box and take a newspaper. We would park bicycles anywhere and nobody would steal them. Motorbikes were kick started and off you'd go = no key or locks. People didn't steal things. We really could leave places unlocked and unattended and they wouldn't be burgled or vandalized. The murder rate was about 3 to 6 cases a year. Of course there were crimes but the incidence was so low the problem was pretty much ignored. Police carried no weapons other than a truncheon as an option.
Now, little Maori children are murdered by violent welfare beneficiaries and there have been nearly 100 such murders this century. There are about 100 murders a year now in total. Which is not terrible for 5 million people compared with other countries but it's not like the good old days. And for every murder there are dozens of violent incidents.
50 years ago there were nearly no welfare recipients. Now there are about a million and swarms of others who are getting loot from the government for being Maori or something or other. Being a bludger is the main occupation in Aotearoa-Zimbabwe. There are swarms of old people and increasing getting pensions. Government is wasting hundreds of $billions on totally stupid ideas that have negative value, not just low value. Education is a not just a failure, it now has negative value in that children are taught wokery, racism, sexism, stupidity, superstition. If a car does 7 litres per hundred kilometres, how many km per litre can it do? If the petrol is $2.57 per litre, what is the fuel cost per kilometre? I asked my 17 year old grand daughter and 45 year old daughter and they were both baffled at the start without getting to the $/km.
They obviously can't calculate net present value, opportunity cost, interest rates, inflation/dilution, house prices, rents, etc to estimate what it's worth paying for a house. Swarms of people are now in trouble as interest rates doubled, house prices have fallen 20% and their jobs have gone.
It turns out that Jacinda borrowing/diluting $200 billion and having a 3% interest lolly scramble with free money for hordes in a giant covid party, while closing down tourism and a lot more beside for months and years, was a bad idea. That's not a surprise to me. But apparently most people thought it wonderful to have a big party with free money for you, free money for you and free money for you, and the rest can "work" from home, And hey, let's send money to help have a war on Russia.
So yes, the economy is bad. But it's the things that caused the bad economy that are the problem. Tweaking interest rates will be of no help. This calamity started in 1936 when the commie welfare Labour Party and Michael Savage started the free stuff socialism/commie action. It started in the 19th century in a motivational sense when my great grandmother Lucy Laurent and her daughters promoted, petitioned and persuaded the government to let women vote. Women vote for free stuff and all the mess. Families are busted up. Women generally are keen on the Democrats and men are generally backing Trump. Women love war = see the swarms of them foaming at the mouth lusting for war on Russia in general and Putin in particular. Strangely, as with all such evil doers, they think they are the good guys.
The government here keeps taking more and more loot and wasting it or paying people who actively make things worse. Road cones and failing roads are now a national joke. Third worlders are taking over in a great replacement. No country run by Islamic Jihad is a good country though some temporarily are doing okay based on found wealth [oil and gas]. The worst of it is mistreatment and neglect of children because their owners get loot per child and they dislike those children as an annoyance. Once ruined, children can't be magically fixed by putting them in prison.
It seems that people in charge of governments are deliberately actively ruining the country. I'm pretty sure they do actually think they are doing good things. But the results are horrible. They spend umpty $million to beautify downtowns, get rid of cars and make all sorts of rules, then act puzzled that they become dead centres with even the homeless giving up on them. Tauranga is an excellent example. Downtown Auckland another. Onehunga fifty years ago - I was an engineer there and warned them that they'd kill the town but they went ahead and did it. 20 years later than tried to put it back to how it was, sort of. Mqurice |
