Elsbeth I have not done a good job of late of picking new series to watch, and I am afraid Elsbeth continues that losing streak. Elsbeth is a rather eccentric lawyer from Chicago who is assigned by the courts to oversee a police station in New York after allegations of impropriety. But wait! It turns out that this is just a cover story and Elsbeth is actually pursuing a completely separate investigation. This made for a decent setup, but I kept on expecting it to add another level with a reveal of who really lies under the Elsbeth character. (At least for me, it’s impossible to imagine a real person like that existing.) But I was expecting too much; the story lines I mentioned merely resolve in a predictable manner. I expected more of this series to appear due to the strong cast, but I doubt I will watch the second season they so assiduously set up. imdb.com
