Putin now knows Kamala will win come November.
To be sure, this still isn't a done deal. Nor is it a done deal that if Trump wins, aid to Ukraine will dry up.

The Kremlin was rather frustrated by Trump's actions during his first term. He was supposed to help RuZZia, but those in the Trump administration blocked Trump's every attempt to give PooTin what he wanted.

This may be the reason why PooTin gave up one of his best cards to play, namely Evan Gershkovich. Apparently he didn't think that card was worth saving for a potential second Trump term.
