Dell is doing a very good job of giving Acer a run for the money here in Malaysia. remember that Dell manufactures here so it is a "local" brand. The top three "branded" computers are Acer, Dell, and H-P. CPQ runs a close fourth. There are two clone brands that also do a good job of capturing share IMO. They are CompAsia and Leo Computer. I have dealt with both and CompAsia is the best. Their service levels are outstanding by comparison, and their advertising is very aggressive. They have 7 corporate stores and two franchise operations. I have had some thoughts about talking to them about a franchise which they are actively pursuing but Asian woes have cooled off my thinking.
Will be eager to see your posts on your return from China. It would be wonderful if you could post while you were on the road. That would be fascinating to get your "on the fly" impressions.
