No dog can (in my humble opinion) equal the expressiveness of the Golden Retriever. The depth of sadness that can be expressed when the owner is leaving for work (head down between paws, big brown eyes looking up mournfully), to the GLEEEEEEE and ecstasy when going for a walk or finding a pond to swim in (smile a mile wide, tail in the air, spring in the step)--Jake wears his heart on his sleeve.
