Why do we have a Constitutional Republic and not a pure Democracy? We have a Constitution that protects the individual from the tyranny of Government and the tyranny of the majority. My rights, as an individual, are inalienable and endowed by my creator. Among them are Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A list of many of my rights is spelled out and can be found in the Bill of Rights. For example: I, an individual, have a right to free speech. I can express my opinion freely, even if no one agrees with me. An act of tyranny occurs when that right is infringed upon by the Government or the majority. When government works to silence free speech, it is tyrannical. Our government revealed itself to be the determined enemy of free speech. I, an individual, have a right to defend myself. At my age, in all probability, arms will be required to facilitate this right in an assault upon my person. I have the right to refuse a vaccination I have deemed to be unsafe. Our government has revealed itself to be the enemy of my right to bear arms. It has also proved it is not above using threats and coercion to force compliance and submission when citizens seek to exorcise their right to defend themselves from untested and questionable medical procedures. In summary: Having feasted upon my God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, I can't imagine a reality where the jackboot of tyranny upon my neck is tolerated. Hence, I will vote for Donald Trump, believing he is the best choice in this upcoming election to secure for me my God-given rights. But note, I pray daily that "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". This is the end of the Lord's prayer when Christ was teaching us to pray. So, whatever He should choose to do, I must believe that it will be best and will work to the end that His kingdom and will be done on earth as it is in heaven. |
