I did not claim - or sure didn't mean to imply - that trumps deregulating of slaughterhouses was the specific cause of the contamination. What I am arguing is that the ideology of deregulation will lead to examples such as this - and maybe this one? You can't claim you favor deregulation and then wring your hands when the shit hits the consumer and say........"it wasn't us, it was the other guys".

I don't see how you and Lane can claim that trump hasn't maintained an ideology of deregulation and that that will not have consequences. It will! SHIT, I wanted deregulation when I was building. But without regulation houses fall down when there is an earthquake. I hate when regulation tells me I can't build on my own property - and yet people will build in the most ridiculous place and then want to be bailed out by the government when something goes wrong.

In the case of BH; make them - NOT the government pay - for every single case where their product effected the lives of those who have been impacted.
