InfoSpace First With Real Time Web Stock Quotes

Want Free Real time quotes.......

- By Patrick McKenna, Newsbytes

Four months ago, someone asked Naveen Jain, founder of InfoSpace and ex-Microsoft executive, who would be the first company to offer real-time stock quotes on the World Wide Web. He answered today when he announced free real-time stock quotes to anyone with Web access.

Often considered the sacred ground of stock brokers, real-time quotes were either available as an added-fee service or a service for preferred customers prior to Jain's new service. His information-packed Web site, infospace.com , began as a people and business information searching service. Jain quickly built InfoSpace into a Web origination and destination site through extensive partnerships which added information from Yellow Pages publishers, newspapers, television stations, search engines, Internet service providers, information appliances and popular Web sites.

Regarding real-time stock quotes, Jain said, "There are a lot of great ideas out there, but success depends on execution." His implementation of the new service is ahead of other popular Web sites such as Yahoo and Excite which offer delayed stock quotes.

InfoSpace real-time quotes are part of a complete financial and investment section featuring stock news, charts, a complete market review, comprehensive company research and SEC filings. According to Jain, InfoSpace users can access, manage and track investments at the touch of a button.

When surveys question who is making money on World Wide Web, Infospace has the answer. "We are one of the very few companies consistently making money on the Web," said Jain. "We are in business to make money and have been since the beginning."
