Do take autism as an example. When you were a kid, it was non-existent because it was rarely diagnosed and those with the diagnosis were what we now label a level 3 and were institutionalized pretty much upon diagnosis. Just look at Temple Grandin, who was diagnosed with autism and only avoided institutionalization because her mother and aunt refused to have her committed. Where you were a kid, Asperger's wasn't a diagnosis in the US, yet clearly shares characteristics with what we call level 3 autistics. With Asperger's at what we now call level 1 autism and what used to be the 'autism' category and now is level 3 autism there are the ones in-between. As a rational person would expect, the population that is between the two extremes is larger, if you assume a normal distribution. Now these are going to be trickier to diagnose because they aren't as extreme and have more uneven masking skills. But that doesn't mean they don't exist or belong in a different category. It just means that we are still in the process of understanding the condition.

So yet again, you run off with poorly understood and partial information and concoct a vast conspiracy where dark forces are secretly indoctrinating our children into being autistic. Or something. But it is nefarious and you know it in your gut. And it must be the teacher's unions behind it. So burn it all to the ground. Because you are ignorant and angry.
