You guys think we have it great here so we should just give that away. I don't know if you so lack insight or are just spouting the party line but you couldn't be farther off base. Collaboration CANNOT occur without healthy negotiation. I'm sure I've written about this before, told you about it before. I learned facilitation for consensus from the folks who were with Carter at Camp David. The first thing you do is get the parties to commit to fixing the problem on your lead. The second thing you do is have them put any proposals back in their briefcases and out of their minds. It's not a negotiation but an analysis. With consensus there are no trade-offs; everyone agrees to everything. It's like a miracle the way it works. There are plenty of places for negotiation in the world but everything is not a negotiation.
