The topics are the same now as they were then. There was disagreement over the West Bank, Gaza, Sinai, Settlements all the same crap. I’m not going to knock Camp David but the things that were agreed upon were the subject of negotiations. If you just say, “These topics are too difficult so we'll skip them for now”, that might avoid the hard negotiations, now and forever. But that’s leaving it to luck.
There were negotiations over these topics then but the agreement t was to not deal with them. I’m not saying that is always a bad approach.
But the more complex arrangement of, say, the Abraham Accords, requires intensive skill and commitment. That is paying off for that’ll the parties today.
If it was decided at Camp David to accept smaller gains and reserve the bigger issues for another day, I would say it worked out well so far.
But he’s, there were negotiations, even if the agreement failed in some difficult topics. |
