I agree. Trump alone can do very little. The checks and balances of power are built into the political system of the three branches of government. The other two branches can easily stop, delay, or compromise the goals set by the executive branch. The legislative and judicial branches of government are often influenced by "me first" of various self-interested groups, including political parties, lobbyists, corporations, activists, unions, social movements, extremist organizations, religious institutions, and even federal agencies like the FBI and CIA. This complex web of competing interests largely explains why the Trump administration, despite holding office for four years, struggled to implement significant changes. Addressing the deeply ingrained societal challenges that have become entrenched in our nation's fabric remains an arduous and complex undertaking.
