Well it has been a very bad week. The indices dropped between -4% and -6%. (And the -6% was the NASDAQ Composite!). Any particular gains for a stock are pretty anemic. The best for the week was ONT.L at the exciting +12%. Don’t get me wrong. I would love that kind of return in real life, if dependable. But almost always the top three stocks would be giving weekly performances in excess of 20%. Sometimes substantially so. So there was apparently a thumb somewhere on the entire market. I blame bitcoin or “AI”.
For the week, the average and median portfolio dropped in value by -$7k. In fact, there was no portfolio in the black for the week. This has happened before, but this just feels worse. Still it was not so bad that it quashed the YTD performance where the average portfolio is still in the black +$6.6k. If you want a little schadenfreude, seven contest portfolios out performed the S&P Biotech index, both for the week and YTD.
The YTD portfolio rankings are unchanged from the previous weeks.
