ATLANTA, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Marion Composites, a division of Advanced Technical Products,
Inc. (Nasdaq: ATPX) and GE Aircraft Engines, announced today that they have entered into a
long-term production alliance. Under the terms of the agreement, Marion Composites will fabricate
composite inlet devices for the GE F414-400 turbofan engine, powering the U.S. Navy's newest fighter,
the F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet".

The U.S. Navy, as stated in the Department of Defense's Quadrennial Defense Review, plans to
procure a minimum of 548 F/A-18E/F aircraft, each requiring two inlet devices. The initial agreement,
covering the first five years of the GE/Marion production alliance, estimates an average of one inlet
device per month in 1999, increasing to nine or more per month over the life of the contract. "This
production alliance is proof of our dedication to building relationships with industry leaders through
lifetime contracts," stated Jim Carter, President, Chairman and CEO of Advanced Technical Products.

Developed by GE specifically for the Navy's F/A-18E/F, the inlet devices are currently in initial low-rate
production at GE and will transition to Marion Composites' facility in Marion, Virginia, over the next year.
The aircraft, produced by The Boeing Company, is currently undergoing a U.S. Navy flight test
program.

Marion Composites, a division of the Atlanta, GA, based Advanced Technical Products, Inc., designs
radomes and produces a wide variety of composite structures for high performance jet aircraft and
shelter systems. Advanced Technical Products designs, develops and manufactures advanced
composite-based materials and products from high strength fibers which optimize strength to weight
performance. The Company is one of a very few that has the ability to utilize multiple processes such
as autoclave lamination, filament winding, resin transfer and metal bonding, to produce products for
aerospace and defense markets, as well as, commercial applications including, oil and gas and
pressure vessels for Natural Gas Vehicles.

Except for the historical information contained herein, the matters discussed in this news release are
forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including, but not limited to, the
cancellation or delay of the contract on either the part of the Department of Defense or GE and other
risks detailed in the Company's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
