| | | But I cannot imagine how you have gotten to the position you now carry, as though Democrats are pure as the wind-driven snow with what they have done over the last eight years.
What I see from the Democrats is business as usual, imperfect as that may be. Change, I would have noticed. The change occurred on your end. Republicans are not what Republicans were eight years ago, imperfect as they may have been. Republicans are so dramatically different as to be unrecognizable. I have no illusions about "pure as the wind-driven snow." I never liked either party or party politics, in general. I have questioned this and that. But what I have seen from Democrats over the last eight years is normalcy, for better or worse, normalcy meaning within recognized norms. What I have seen from Republicans is a degradation of everything that has fostered my country's success, of truth, justice, and the American way. Sure, normalcy included some unseemly stuff. But there were thresholds beyond which one could not go and there was shame in trying. It's a matter of degree. Trump blew through those thresholds and you guys cheered. Policy-wise, Trump also blew out the Overton Window, and you guys cheered.
It still is just a crazy thing to me.
There have always been pee tapes. They were part of the "unseemly stuff." It is noise and was always such, titillating, then passing, rinse and repeat. No one before chose to blow everything up over it. That's the crazy thing. |
