Last night, we rewatched the pilot episode of Inspector George Gently, our next classic series to enjoy again. We literally remembered nothing about the plot, so it's like starting a solid new series all over.

It was a pleasure watching Martin Shaw's reserved, deft acting (which matched the script style of course) instead of the histrionic, self-indulgent nonsense from some of the later entries in the genre.
