>>Do you think Buzz will have a place in the professional recording world?<<
I think it is safe to say that Buz will have absolutely NO place in the professional world. There are several reasons why.
For one thing, it is not professional quality to the MPEG2 standard. If you want to print to DSS quality, you must go with a professional machines like the Avid, Immix Videocube, Media 100-- all dedicated machines costing several thousands of dollars.
It's I/O is RCA type-- hardly the professional interface.
All I/O are analog. No provisions for digital transfer of either video or audio.
Legendarily Horrible Customer Support from Iomega would be a big no-no in the world of professional post-production.
And, most importantly, there is no SMPTE timecode or sync.
No batch digitize, no RT-422 machine control, no compliance with the Avid standard, no EDL print out, no Sony or Grass Valley on-line board compatibility, poor if any color correction, and on and on and on...
I have not seen the editing software, but I would hazard it is safe to say that it is not nearly as flexible or stable as any of the above machines either.
Buz is meant for purely amateur home movie type stuff. And it should do well in the crowded and limited field of home video buffs. |
