My algo is my thinking codified. It is effectively an automation of how I would trade manually. I still end up supervising it and sometimes (often regretfully) override it. What I still haven't done is to build a decent market scanner to go with the trading algo. Case in point, back when SMMT traded under 2, I bought some. Then it started to fall and I sold it (at a small loss, I think). Both the purchase and the sell were compliant with my algo. BUT, I just checked on it and it has come up more than 10x in a year. Had I had my market scanner, then I would have caught up on the sea change. SIGH!
