PI at Piper - 9/10/24 CFO in a fireside chat. Cary gets better and better each time he presents. We have a superstar co-founder CEO, but I think the stock opportunity here will extend beyond his tenure. Think Irwin Jacobs from QCOM. - Discussed the retail environment and how they track the macro. Very good discussion. - They are already having conversations at WalMart about moving beyond Phases 1/2, which he expects to extend into 2025 before those Phases are completed. There are also a LOT of other retailers watching this deployment. They are all familiar with RAIN RFID with their apparel deployments and he think their expansion to general merchandise could happen very fast. - UPS will present an opportunity to expand into the International operations in 2025. - Logistics customer #1, the dock door deployment, was won in 2018 and completed in 2020. It was a $30M equipment deployment but does not represent a lot of tag volume. However, they could expand their deployment into what UPS is doing. - Food is happening faster than they expected. It started in the food service side for traceability but in the last few quarters they are seeing a lot of item level activity. Several grocers have visited their lab. Their interest is centered around freshness/spoilage. - They have 8 major inlay partners. Good discussion on the process of wafer to inlay partner to end user. - The M800 margin improvement is a 2025 event. The two things they've done to speed it along are 1) made it drop-in compatible with the M700 and 2) priced it slightly below the M700. - They have 6 months of inventory now. - They are still in the pilot phase with Authenticity.
