After skier notified me that he didn't see IPGP on what he believed to be a current list of the 30 stocks on the SOX index, I decided to look into this situation. This is purely from internet searches.
I found that the NASDAQ became the official administrator of the SOX index, taking over from Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX).
From what I have read, it appears the SOX index is more dynamic in its stock make-up than the DJIA so it may be more challenging to keep up with the changes to the SOX for our CLX work.
The current make-up of the index, as reported by the NASDAQ at indexes.nasdaqomx.com, is:
ACLS, ADI, ALGM, AMAT, AMD, AMKR, ASML, AVGO, COHR, ENTG, GFS, INTC, KLAC, LRCX, LSCC, MCHP, MPWR, MRVL, MU, NVDA, NXPI, ON, QCOM, QRVO, RMBS, SWKS, TER, TSM, TXN, WOLF
Yahoo Finance was in agreement.
The stocks we (gman1, Hawkman@ga, and I) are currently using is missing ACLS, AMKR, and RMBS.
The stocks currently in our CLX list that are not in the SOX index are IPGP, NOVT, and SYNA.
I don't have the dates when the switches occurred but I don't think it makes our CLX work invalid or non-representative of the SOX or more importantly, the ETFs such as SOXL, but I do think we should try to update our SOX CLX work at our earliest convenience.
I will begin working up the individual CLX/CLXpp UPs and DOWNs (with all the numbers) for ACLS, AMKR, and RMBS. If everything is ready, I will distribute this data this coming weekend and we can make the changes.
I also propose that we switch the order of our SOX stocks to alphabetical order as for as reporting the UPs and DOWNs. I think Hawkman already has his in alphabetical order. Just seems to me that since we are faced with a three stock switch, we might as well change the order. I admit that is not hard for me with my program setup. I don't know what the rest of you think. Let me know.
