What you DON'T do is play their game and try to one-up them in terms of authoritarianism, moral relativism, and ends justify the means. What is authoritarianism? Is it when a Trump or Orban makes clear his views that government needs to be structured in different ways, some agree and some don't, but the support is substantial? Is it when he responds peacefully but angrily about widespread cheating in our elections? Extensive cheating? Outrageous tactics?
Who are the authoritarians, when they use extremely dirty lies (as Kamala has extensively, as HRC did yesterday, and attempt to get through an election without legitimate interrogation, with cheating in debates as we now know happened, lie about the opposition's platform, and stand ready to "put a bullet in his head".
Where is the authoritarianism you see you in Trump? Can you please LMK exactly what you're considering to be as bad as all that?
Surely, you can agree that one-size does not fit all when it comes to abortion? If nothing else, we've witnessed it for 60 years! No American Founder ever said, "Yes, Texas should have to follow California's way on matters of deeply religious significance." And for sure no Founder ever said, "Texas and California must abide by the same local rules when it comes to health care, abortion, or other things personal to themselves, other than we want children to have their own rights to life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness.
This all seems to be a very straightforward thing. You do you in CA, I'll do me in Texas. But if I come to CA, I have to follow your rules but stay inside the lines of the Constitution.
This is fundamentally easy stuff. |
