...some elaboration..

<<As I wrote in my post re balance, I spend a minimum of several minutes a day on tip toe. My logic is the vestibular system extends beyond the cochlea and the visual aspect to include the muscular system of the legs and feet. There are, of course, muscles in the feet which can deteriorate as we age based on circulation and simple degeneration.>>

In addition re balance, I move my head quickly from side to side or circularly or diagonally in order to 'dizzify' myself for about 30 seconds. This is also promoting the flexibility of neck muscles. On stopping I fixate on some point in order to quickly reestablish my balance. A significant number of my long time friends suffer from some variation of vertigo. Tennis requires some dynamic visual depth perception adjustments and I think that contributes to healthy balance.

One additional aspect is the long term commitment. I've done thousands of days of consecutive balance 'exercises' and that allows me to do the minimum required for maintenance. Is my balance better than my innate presumed balance from decades ago? Probably not but I believe I'm close to as good as my current potential.
