I saw the movie when it first came out, and then again several year later. I remember the major plot lines, but not that scene. Yes, there are many situations in which having a conscience is serious handicap. Think of Oppenheimer as an example. But though we may suffer, given a chance, I don't think those with a good conscience would want to be a sociopaths - no matter the advantages. This is why I strongly disagree with erasing memories of war.
