UniComp Signs Contract With Siemens Nixdorf

MARIETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 1998--UNICOMP, INC. (NASDAQ:UCMP) today announced that its subsidiary, Unibol, Ltd., has signed a contract with Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme (SNI) to provide continued maintenance for UNIBOL400 on Siemens' RM Series hardware platforms for a further five years.

Unibol has been working with SNI since 1992 to market UNIBOL400 on the RM Series throughout Europe. Continuation of the contract is a testament to SNI's confidence in UNIBOL400 as the leading tool for the rehosting of IBM AS/400 applications to UNIX.

Stephen A. Hafer, President and CEO of UniComp, said, "We are pleased with the extension of this contract, as we believe that this will better position UniComp for growth and success in this marketplace."

Targeted at AS/400 software developers and end-users, UNIBOL400 is the native AS/400 environment for Open Systems and is the easiest and most cost-effective way of rehosting AS/400 applications to multiple platforms. Developers can reap the rewards of expanding into new markets and growing their business by offering their application on a wider choice of platforms. AS/400 end-users can implement UNIX with minimum disruption to the day-to-day operation of their business using their existing resources, existing skill set and existing application code. In addition, UNIBOL400 provides a complete AS/400-style application development environment, allowing users to integrate their applications with Oracle and take advantage of other leading technologies.

Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme, part of the Siemens Group, is both the largest European supplier, and one of the world's leading suppliers to the IT market world-wide. Its RM Series of UNIX servers, with its internationally successful SINIX operating system, has proved itself as an extremely reliable, high-performance enterprise-wide server, used throughout many industries world-wide.

Together, Unibol and SNI will use their experience and expertise to offer AS/400 developers and end-users the lowest cost, least risk method to rehost their applications on SINIX.
