The map is true, and in fact common knowledge. It is a fact :)! The 1964 civil rights act voting: Not follow the money, follow the segregated states. Back to 1860: By and large, the free states voted for it, and the slave states voted against it. It was complicated a little because liberals in the south voted for it, and liberal Republicans in the north voted for it.
