Fake news video about Annalena Baerbock: Alleged gigolo in Nigeria spills the beans

4 August 2024

“Annalena called me”
Baerbock is accused of being a gigolo

In a video, a man reports on his alleged profession as a “gigolo” for white European women in positions of power. He casually mentions the name “Annalena”. He is referring to the German Foreign Minister Baerbock. Several details of the publication clearly show what to think of her.

An absurd story is currently causing a stir on social media and has even forced a reaction from the Foreign Office. It concerns an alleged prostitute who, in a video on a Nigerian news site, reports how he sets up business with his clients – according to him, mostly white European women who are hungry for emotions. The smug part: He speaks of a special client who is a powerful minister. He casually drops the name “Annalena”.

Several flimsy channels and portals then share the story. For example, on the website “zeitgeschenen.de”, which has no imprint, there is an article entitled “Where does German tax money go? Baerbock engages in sex tourism with an African prostitute on official trips”. t-online Based on the history of the story’s publication and dissemination, as well as the actors involved in social media, it is assumed that it is apparently a scandal story fabricated by pro-Russian agents.

When asked by the media, the Foreign Office said that the report was “false, fictitious and completely absurd”. The “Bild” then quoted the Foreign Office as saying: “The procedure suggests that Russian actors are the originators or sponsors of this defamation attempt.”

The story got rolling when the interview was uploaded to a YouTube channel created in June on July 29. Just one day later, the video, including the transcribed interview, was published on the Nigerian news site “Daily Post”. But it was marked as “sponsored”, i.e. paid content. After “zeitgeschenen.de”, a website that is also fresh off the shelf according to t-online, took up the topic, Chay Bowes then shares the story referring to “the German online publication Zeitgeschehen” with its around 135,000 followers. According to researchers from t-online, Bowes is an Irish journalist who recently started working for the Russian state broadcaster RT and regularly spreads fake news.

Customers “occupy significant positions of power”The alleged gigolo, of whom it is not known whether he actually pursues this trade or is perhaps just a poorly paid actor, then does his part in the video interview. Immediately after the first question, he goes into medias res: “My name is Kingsley and I have been working as a gigolo in this business for about five years. Basically, my clients are white women from Europe. Most of them hold significant positions of power.”

He explains what these women are looking for: namely, “company, a break from their lives in the spotlight and the pressure that comes with it.” And: The relationship must be connected to emotions.

Following on from the platitudes, “Kingsley” comes to the central part of the interview: “I would say there is one client who stands out from all the others. She is a very powerful European politician. If I am not mistaken, she is a minister from Germany. We met in Abuja. The first time we met was around December 2022.”

The alleged prostitute then describes details of his client’s outfit, that it was a nice evening, and that she “appreciates the company of handsome black gentlemen.” “And that’s not the end of the story,” he says. “Annalena called me six months later and asked if I could accompany her to Pretoria, South Africa. Due to the nature of her work, we only meet twice a year and hardly spend a day together. Usually it’s just one night.”

It is hardly surprising that Baerbock was actually on business trips in Abuja in December 2022 and in Pretoria in June 2023. Those responsible for the video have obviously done their homework.
