I don’t agree that uptrend in Gold must be defined as outperforming stocks. Gold may be in a long term secular uptrend regardless what stocks are doing.

In fact, imo, since the long term Bear in gold ended in 2001, Gold has been in a long term Bull market, making a higher low in 2015 — and more recently, higher highs.

You want to be invested in stronger assets. In this sense, it’s interesting that Gold outperformed stocked from 2002 until late 2011. It really pays to run relative strength charts - including long term.
