Bob,

<<<Would anyone give me a run down of what the technique of "frakking" is in the oil& gas industry? Thanks, Bob>>>

Frac'ing or fracturing is a process of pumping a mix of usually sand and a special liquid, which is usually a gelled substance, under high pressure down a well through the perforations to fracture, or open up the formation. When the formation has fractured the sand grains are pushed into the newly formed and opened fractures and continue to hold this fracture open. This allows oil and other fluids to flow easier to the wellbore, where by increasing production.

There are other types of fracturing but the processes are similar.
