Bonefish, think about why Trump's "Willie Horton" moment won't have any effect.

When George H.W. Bush did it, it was impactful. It was meaningful. Bush successfully tied Dukakis' prisoner furlough program with what Willie Horton did.

Moreover, Bush had credibility. Words mattered back then. Bush was believable. When he said "Read my lips, no new taxes," people felt like he really meant it. (Of course Bush broke his promise later on, which among other things hurt his chances at re-election.)

Compare that to today. Trump has no credibility. Words don't matter. Trump says the craziest, stupidest shit imaginable. No one takes him at his word, not even you MAGA cultists.

"Oh he's just shit talking. Oh he didn't really mean it. Oh you're just taking him too literally."

Moreover, Trump has a long history of exploiting dead people for political gain. Aiden Clark and the soldiers who died in Kabul are perfect examples.

So yeah, Trump can't even pull off a Willie Horton convincingly.
