News like this makes me think of how auto and aviation companies are thought of differently - when it comes to controlling ownership. Chrysler, being the smallest of the so-called Big Three has been "allowed" to be been under a couple of different ownership relationships past 25 years of so including currently a non-U.S. based parent company. While no U.S. airline in modern times, and maybe never (?), has had such a similar setup. Investors in Joby besides Toyota include Intel, JetBlue and a SpaceX investment group. I'll be curious how things shake out in the coming years. Is is a car company, it is a airplane company, or is it both?
