Inode, If I had owned a business in Cali at that time, I would have packed up and left for good. It is clearly far too dangerous for any business to operate there, and certainly to be homed there. And yet, the state has survived.
And yet, Silicon Valley is still the global center of high tech.
And yet, there are still some industries that are growing and thriving here despite the hostile business climate, including biotech, video game development, TV and cinema, tourism, wine and agriculture, defense, etc.
By the way, not too long ago I flew into Orlando, which was trying to fashion itself as a new hub for high-tech businesses.
If California is as anti-business as you think it is, and if Florida is as pro-business as DeathSantis likes to claim it is (No mask mandates! No vax mandates! No books that literally change our kids' genders!), then Orlando will take the tech lead from San Francisco within one to two decades.
I don't see that happening.
