Not for Victoria, but to All: (Not sure how to do a general post to everyone.)
I've read through everyone's questions, and will quickly address the ones I can:
[1] First, take no offense that I will not answer private email. The point is that I would like to avoid getting a dozen similar private questions when a single answer here to a question will benefit everyone.
[2] Duke Nukem Forever (which is Duke 4, not Duke 2, btw) is expected to come out late this year, but may slip a quarter. We're pushing as hard as possible, even outsourcing much work like cinematics, to get the game done this year. But the best laid plans of developers and publishers...
[3] The movie is expected to come out in 1999 or 2000. My money is on 2000, but then the movie suits say 1999 is possible and they know a lot more about this than I do.
[4] The movie revenues are not the big pay-off of doing a movie (though several million can be made by us and GTIS). Instead, the movie serves the Duke franchise as a whole as a marketing vehicle, raising the mass market's awareness of the Duke Nukem franchise, which in turn helps sell more games, action figures, merchandising, and hopefully opens more doors to pursuing comics, more novels, and more movies.
[5] Someone asked if GTIS makes any money from our direct sales. No. But direct sales are only 1/15th of retail sales on average.
[6] I will not accept members here pooling together to pay for my membership. The point is that SI will either recognize the benefit of my being here or not--and possibly I don't add much by being here. In less than two weeks we'll all know. (Although I will still be here reading messages after my trial time expires.)
[7] The misinformation I've seen here has to do with incorrect game sales figures, incorrect release dates, bad estimations of the potential of coming titles, and many more things along similar lines which I can't remember without going back over the last several months. I've seen several outlandish statements that forced me to cringe. If I'm still able to, I'll do what I can to set the record straight when these occur in the future. ;) These statements are especially frustrating when they're about my company and our games.
I will try to answer any reasonable question I see here. Several people here from their statements would already prefer to see me gone. I hope these same people will ignore the information I provide here, too. <ggg>
