Extreme Temperature Diary- Saturday October 5th, 2024/Main Topic: Hurricane Milton Will Demolish Portions of Florida’s West Coast with an Eye on Tampa – Guy On Climate

Dear Diary. Last night I was looking at models seeing one of my greatest fears when it comes to hurricanes. A powerful major CAT3 or better storm was forecast to move into Tampa Bay, going through the I-4 corridor and trashing Orlando, as well:

. This morning’s much improved GFS shown the same trend, which has me very concerned that another tragedy will strike the U.S. that is still reeling from Helene. About the worst path for what is an already developed Milton would be directly into Tampa Bay. Recent hurricanes like Ian were forecast initially to hit near Tampa but veered off towards the south. Perhaps Milton will as well, but as residents of Fort Myers will attest, that would be deadly trouble, as well.
Here is this morning’s GFS, European model, and the latest Hurricane Center forecast:

Such a scenario that is forecast will tax our insurance industry as billions worth of damage occurs from Tampa into Orlando. Could we soon see millions of people affected and displaced by a climate change infused heated Milton? Stay tuned.
