BARBE HALCRO
Barbe Halcro here treated is not the same person as Barbara Halcro
According to the late Roland William Saint-Clair's report of the Nobles of Sweden, Barbe Halcro here treated is the daughter of Sir Hugh Halcro. This information was evidently provided by her son, Lietenant Colonel David Sinclair, when he was admitted to the Swedish College of Nobles in 1655. Roland William Saint-Claire cited entry number 626. The Saint-Clairs of the Isles, p. 317
When he speaks of the Swedish College of Nobles Roland William Sinclair was probably refering to the House of Nobility, in Swedish the Riddarhuset a palace and an organisation for the nobles in Sweden, whose objective is to preserve, maintain, and shield a historical heritage.
Death If Barbara Halcro here treated was the wife of William Sinclair of Saba, as has been suggested by the late Roland William Saint-Clair's report, then she must have died before 18 October 1615, the date upon which William Sinclair of Saba and his wife Jean Gordon had a charter for the lands of Cowbister and Smowgrow in the Orkney parish of Orphir. NRS., GD106/137
Marriage According to the late Roland William Saint-Clair's report of the Nobles of Sweden, Barbe Halcro married William Sinclair, Master of Seba and Brobster. The Saint-Clairs of the Isles, p. 317 This suggests that she and her husband were married during the lifetime of John Sinclair of Tullhop, her father-in-law, who was alive on 3 November 1593 NRS: GD1/45/15 but probably died before 18 October 1615.
