OT: The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Demis Hassabis and John Jumper from Google DeepMind, along with David Baker, for their groundbreaking work on proteins. Hassabis and Jumper were recognized for their development of the AlphaFold2 AI model, which can predict the structures of nearly all known proteins.

PS. I briefly looked at protein visualisation techniques as a postgraduate, aiming to enhance the software used by researchers to understand the structure of proteins and, by extension, their function. It is cool to see that AI has had such mindboggling success in solving the protein folding problem. I suspect this breakthrough is generally vastly underappreciated, and that it will have an enormously beneficial effect on the world, if not already.
